Do I qualify for premium ventilation?

Installing a new ventilation system comes with a price tag. Can you cut costs with premium ventilation or will you fall out of the financial picture? We'll tell you more about the terms so you know exactly what to expect.

No premium ventilation, possibly Total Renovation Bonus

You will not receive a separate bonus for the installation of a ventilation system. However, if you combine the installation of your ventilation with at least two other energy-saving measures, you may be able to count on the Total Renovation Bonus. To qualify for this, it is important that you respect the following conditions:

• The Total Renovation Bonus applies only to homes in the Flemish Region that were connected to the electricity grid before January 1, 2006.
• You take - in addition to your newly purchased ventilation system - at least two more energy-saving measures: roof or floor insulation, solar water heater, heat pump ... A correct overview can be found here.
• The renovation works must be carried out within five years of the first energy-saving measure.

Does your ventilation system count toward the Total Renovation Bonus?

Only ventilation systems with heat recovery and/or demand-controlled ventilation, used for the entire house, count toward the Total Renovation Bonus. In addition, the work must be performed and invoiced by a contractor. You can read more about the conditions here. Then you register your system with the grid operator Fluvius. Your application is registered and once you meet all the conditions, they award the bonus. The amount can be up to € 4,750 per home. This sum is in addition to the normal premiums you may be entitled to.
